SLU students are held up to a high standard and are expected to become models of competency and innovation. why couldn't the same be said of the school that molds them as such in the first place? let's count: 1 month na since the start of Hormuz blockade. weeks after, projected na yung pag-increase ng oil. government offices already cut down working days soon after. before holy week, anticipated na din na magkakaroon ng transport strike. tapos wala lang? almost little to no consultations nor information about contingency plans such as possible alternative set-ups? look at our contemporaries. medyo masakit lang yung fact na this school is at the forefront when it comes to advocating for societal change yet laging mabagal when it comes to actually making a change. for the drivers, canteens, cafes and bookstores. yeah they are also suffering. however, they are suffering as much as we are suffering. the main source of income is indeed us students. at the same time, inevitable na rin na hihina yung sources of income nila since bababa yung spending power ng students in comparison to pre-energy crisis economy. as saddened as i am about this fact pero we cannot help them completely but soften the blow. we can only help them as far up as much as we can pull ourselves up. case in point? gas drivers are minimizing operations because keeping everything running as before doesn't work na because profits aren't breaking even anymore. as students, sadly this is what we get for normalizing this from the admins. issue na ito last last years pa. hays. we are not "maswerte" just because are demands are meant and our grievances accomodated. we are directly affected in their decisions therefore it is our responsibility to be involved as soon as one potentially comes up. just imagine what could have been done had plans been made and disclosed prior to this week. maybe schedules could be customized by different schools in order to accomodate their demands more (especially yung laboratory and internship-heavy departments). maybe schedules between departments can be alternated so that campus traffic isn't maximized yet services such as canteens and utilities can still be opened. or somehow maybe the one we have ends up being the most efficient for the most people. but doesn't really matter na. too late for that now. #SLUFreedomWall24711 Hi! I just want to respectfully ask for clarification regarding the criteria for attending the hard hatting ceremony. Based on the announcement, it was stated that students who will attend are those who are planning to take OJT next semester or those who have already completed it. However, I noticed that some individuals who are not yet eligible to take OJT next sem were still able to join. I also understand that slots for the hard hatting pictorial are limited, which makes me wonder why some officers were able to attend even if they are not yet eligible for the ceremony itself. I’m just a bit confused and would like to understand what the actual basis or criteria is for participation because others might think it's unfair. Okay, yes, valid. Now that they gave another memo regarding the new schedule, marami pa rin nasasabi about it? At this time of crisis, we cannot ask the school to give us the perfect solution. Maybe they gave that schedule because based on the census they gave, most students would benefit from the alternating schedule for face to face classes and online classes. #SLUFreedomWall24708 Tatlong bagay na nakakabahala sa rxn sa alternating schedule: (1) maraming kuda pero halatang di nagbabasa, (2) nagrereklamo tungkol sa labs pero "Hands-on clinical skills training requiring physical simulation equipment or patient contact shall remain on-site" lang ang labs na nakikita ko. So yung mga taong buhay nakasalalay ba ang ayaw pumasok? Yung as a professional e papasukin pa rin? Kasi kung hindi, balik sa number 1, pero kung oo, huwag na kayo magkabagong building, aksaya lang ng pera; high passing rate ninyo, walang kuwenta at (3) kay sama ng bungaga kasi anonymous at walang filtering itong freedom wall na ito. (From a credible source,) The admin has plans na raw regarding the current issue bago pa man magsalita ang students here sa fw, kaya it’s not proper to say or assume na wala silang ginagawa/gagawing action regarding this matter. They are just observing daw muna kung anong mas magandang gawin at i-implement cos they have choices na kung paano magiging set-up natin. They are supposed to provide a memo after exams yata (cos exam week is approaching nga naman, we need to focus, and ofc ftf yan), kaso lang namadali na ang decision and pagrelease dahil sa mga entries dito. Another thing is yung sa laboratory classes. Lab classes are online din daw and not face-to-face. The clinical skills lab they are pertaining to is yung may mga physical simulation equipment and may need ng patient contact (like nursing and SOM) lang, kaya those of you na pinoproblema yung magkasunod na lab and lec classes during the online week, you don’t need to worry kasi it doesn’t apply to us. To the nursing dept naman, idk paano set-up nila regarding that and if na-orient na sila on how will that work, but I think it’s best to consult your instructors. I’m not a pro-admin, pero I’m also not looking at one side of the story lang. Let’s compromise, help each other, and be kind guys. It’s the best thing we can do.
