helloooo, just wanna share lang how disappointed my parents were during the college scholars’ convocation… they literally travelled 12 hours just to witness me receive my award, so you can imagine how much this meant to them.
pero honestly, ang sakit lang kasi the whole program felt so unprepared. the emcee came across na parang hindi ready, the announcement of names felt rushed, and the decorations looked like they were put together barely 30 minutes before the program started. wala ring proper seating arrangements—we had to wait around 20 minutes just to be seated, tapos may staff pa na medyo masungit while people were already trying to settle in.
hindi naman sa pagiging maarte, pero sana hindi naman halatang minadali lahat. our parents didn’t travel that far just to see a program that felt like it was put together at the last minute. minsan na nga lang kami ma-recognize, tapos parang labag pa sa loob paghandaan nang maayos—ang hirap lang tanggapin.
even small details mattered sana—like the photographer using an iPhone, the background music habang ina-awardan (parang morning coffee lofi cafe vibes yung peg 😭), and the lights in the gym only being turned on near the end of the program. tapos when you compare it sa university scholars’ program na may performances pa and seemed more organized (or idk maybe based on my friends’ post lang siguro baka we had the same situation din sa program flow), mapapaisip ka talaga.
nakaka-frustrate lang din kasi as students, we’re expected to meet high standards—lalo na sa thesis, presentations, and defenses. may criteria, may structure, may expectations on how things should be delivered properly. sana lang the same level of effort and professionalism is given back during events that are meant to honor students.
hindi naman ito para manira—more on sana maging lesson din moving forward. kasi events like this aren’t just programs, they’re milestones not just for us, but for our families who worked hard and sacrificed a lot just to see us up there.
