#MCFreedomWall5357 Anyone have any thoughts on our country's possible Free Trade Agreement with the EU? It feels like it came out of left field, but given all the sh*t that's happening in American politics, I view it as the EU trying to pull away from America's sphere of influence. I welcome trade and exchange with countries from the Global North, but not all in aspects. Our leaders have to protect some key industries here. Would anyone want our country to primarily buy foreign brand milk, and not our local home-grown brands? What will happen to our farmers which have historically received little to no support in the planting, fertilizing, harvesting, storing, and distributing their produce? The cynic in me feels like this Free Trade Agreement will be how our country becomes indebted to the EU, with our leaders and technocrats being made useful to Israeli-connected industries. Since China restricted the export of their rare earth minerals in the building of weapons worldwide, this will be the EU's way of getting around the building and development of their weapons industries to power Ukraine against Russia, as well as Isnotreal. This could be the EU's version of Pax Silica towards our nation, a way of dangling a carrot that would entice our heads of our government and industry leaders to give up a substantial amount of our natural resources in exchange for marketshare and technical knowledge. The optimist in me feels that this could be EU finally realizing that plenty of exciting developments, scientific research, discoveries, and cultural exchanges will be happening in the Asia-Pacific Region. Decades of our OFWs going to Europe to find meaningful work there has softened them and their leaders' attitudes towards our country, and thus see mutual benefit in engaging in Free Trade with our country. This could also be their way of realistically making amends with the nations they exploited during their colonial era. The benefits our country could receive from this free trade agreement could also mean a much easier and clearer path towards our country's industrialization. I will always be skeptical when it comes to "Free Trade" agreements as nothing's ever truly free. Even over a hundred years ago when our nation participated in the Galleon Trade under Spain, it definitely wasn't your average indio who benefited from the sale and exchange of goods. It definitely wasn't your average Filipino who benefited from our produce not being subject to tariffs under the American colonial era. It was our bourgeoisie, our political dynasts, their family members, and people connected to those powerful families who benefitted. How much technical knowledge sharing and skills training would they allow for our nation without being blinded by racism? If our leaders play their cards right, they could gain more from our country's free trade with them by emphasizing that China is currently our biggest trade partner, that it is our oldest trade partner, and that our country has options besides them so that they won't hold back on us. That's what I would do at least. Chinese EVs are a big hit all throughout Europe. Your average European's grown more curious and respectful of China these past couple of years.

Again, it’s the party’s theory of the birdcage economy at work here. Their rich are different American and Western rich. China’s rich are primarily composed of industry capitalists, as in people whose companies who do not speculate on the value of their assets and allow their investments to accrue endless compounding interest just by sitting in their portfolio doing nothing. But they are deliberately priced far out of people’s median salary here. #MCFreedomWall5351 Do you know why people and our gdp has been concentrated in manila and not other HUCs? Its our HUCs are stucked at regional wages. Its kinda unfair for HUCs to not have their right to set their own wages because clearly their standard of living is higher than their region and nearby cities/municipalities. Cities like Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao have gdp per capitas closing to metro manila yet their wages still can't come close. HUCs have expensive living, they should be given a manila treatment so that people won't have to go to manila to work and would just be satisfied by the HUCs in their regions. This right would also help rising HUCs like GenSan, Puerto Princesa and Zamboanga to make them match to high tier cities using salary demand growth.
