DLSL Freedom Wall

hi. if upcoming jhs or shs student ka and a new student / transferee, this may be helpful for u:)
1. very technology oriented si lasalle. very seldom o hindi madalas ang pag gamit ng papers or ang pag submit ng paper output. most of the time, pdfs, word docs, ppts made sa powerpoint or canva ang susubmit at gagamitin nyo. so if hindi ka ba familiar sa google applications, time na for u para gamayin ito. pero, u will still need pen and paper though, mostly sa formative assessments AKA non graded assessments nga lang. (depende toh sa teacher nyo kasi sometimes cinocount nila as class participation points).
2. connected sa number 1, everyday mong gagamitin ung device mo. laptop man yan or ipad/tablets. ang issue lang ay, laging madaming technical irregularities, lalo na at nagamit si lasalle ng browser for anti cheating, so its important na ung meron ka ay tama sa specifications ng lasalle (posted toh sa official dlsl page).
3. straightforward ang grading ni lasalle, to the point na kaya mo i-calculate final grade mo. may transmutation table paren yes--- pero for example: sa isang graded task na out of 10, at naka 9 ka, minus 1 na agad yun sa final card grade. gets ba? kasi very possible magka 100 dito, kaya if u consider urself pretty smart and capable, for sure makaka honors ka. kumbaga, pag sinabi na 30% of ur grade ang graded tasks, ibig sabihin talagang 30 points in total na scored tasks yun.
now, i suggest of course na makinig ka sa orientation per ur grade pero ito usually how it works: (i am aware na machchange pa toh pero this is based sa last school years)
for example, jhs grading system:
30 % graded tasks (ito ung ginagawa every end of a module -- a module is usually studied within 2 weeks) pede syang tig 10 points, 15 pts, 20 pts, or 5 pts, basta sa isang quarter, 2-3 gts ang gagawin na 30 pts ang total.
40 % quarterly assessment (sa ibang school summative or periodic tests tawag dito. this is by the end of every quarter, meaning after 3 modules and all gts are done. 40 points toh --- ang convenient is may specific rubrics always na ipapakita and pagbabasehan nyo. sometimes dba hindi natin alam standard ng teacher sa pag-grade, pero sa lasalle, may sinusunod silang rubric na same for every student -- so more transparency and mas gamay mo ung hinahanap ng activity)
10 % participation points ( hati toh, mayroon na individual and group points, bale tig 5. walang clear na system toh, naka depende sa teachers, so i suggest just make urself known and active sa first weeks palang, and basta wag pabigat sa groupworks. groupworks are always ended with peer evals.)
20 % capstone ( omg kung new student ka pag handaan mo toh. this is a group work pero not just any groupwork --- this affects ur grades thruout ALL subjects. sabihin natin perfect ka sa lahat pero the moment hindi ka 20/20 sa capstone, may minus yun sa lahat ng final grade mo per sub. tip ko, kahit na hindi magandang groupmate mapapunta sayo, tahakin nyo ang work na intentional and alam nyong pasok sa abilities nyo. make it doable. capstone needs a final output kasi and that can come in many ways. basta, wag nyo gawin ung alam nyong mahirap i-defend or i-push through sa long run. para tong research but with an output // sa research nyo sa g10 halos capstone basihan nyo)
sa shs, aware akong may performance tasks na kasama sa grading system, pero hindi pa yun klaro saken so just to add nalang.
one thing na u should take advantage of sa lasalle ay ung facilities. malaki ang campus, galain mo and make friends along the way. mixed ang environments, sa isang lugar may makikita kang elem, jhs, shs, even college. kung tatanungin mo sakin kung worth it ang lasalle, oo at hindi, pero mostly oo. bilang student, kapag nandun ka na tsaka ka magkakaroon ng chance and moments to criticise and thats okay. maraming flaws ang school na toh, pero no doubt, its still better than others and one of the best. best of luck sayo new student, beware of the out of touch na rich kids, pero hindi lahat ganun so break na stigma na 'maaarte' lang ang nandito. lasalle is also full of hardworking scholars and regular students na nagcocommute, naglalakad, at kumakayod bilang student araw araw.
lets all see each other sa june;))
