*They Are Now Recruiting Through Dating Apps - Scammers Are Pretending to Date You!*
Recently, more people have encountered individuals who use dating apps as a way to recruit into a business network linked to McOcean. They usually appear friendly and sincere at first, but their real intention is to eventually introduce their “business opportunity” and persuade you to join. Real cases from people I know (both male and female) have shown that they are targeted by scammers using romantic interest as a tactic. It appears that one of the techniques taught is for members to approach and attract potential victims of the opposite gender through dating applications.
Some common signs:
• Always encouraging you to meet a big group of their “friends”
• Inviting you to Airbnb gatherings or sports events like pickleball (or any other sports probably)
• Repeatedly showing off how much money they claim to earn, and share success stories of their friends
• Talking about quitting their jobs thanks to this system
• Trying to pull you into group chats very quickly
• Mentioning business terms such as “indirect selling” or “franchise model”
• Keywords like: "business partner", "meeting", "logistics business"
Many people only realise the pressure starts after they enter the group. Scam packages can go up to RM34k, and the focus is more on recruiting than on real product sales. The worst thing is, even if you don't have the capital, they will ASK YOU TO BORROW A PERSONAL LOAN for it!
I found a company handbook online that explains how recruits are trained to persuade and influence potential targets. Pay close attention to the FAQ section — it outlines manipulation tactics, including emotional pressure and isolating individuals from their family and friends. It even instructs members not to disclose the company name at the beginning, so that potential targets cannot search for information on Google beforehand.
