Sa super laki ng issue, nababalita na tayo sa news publishers and even DZMM 💀. Like teh...??? I took my undergrad here with hopes of a higher chance of getting into UERM's medschool proper. But after four years here as an undergrad, having experienced the admin's response (or the lack thereof haha) + the issues surrounding the school right now, i'm so discouraged na magapply pa dito ulit 😆. Sayang kasi i really liked the curriculum here, like yung PBL style and ward rounds as early as 2nd year (ik only a few medschools offer this type of pedagogy), but ykw, the cons outweigh the pros na for me haha. there comes a time when you can no longer tolerate the same issues OVER AND OVER again. it's better talking to a wall. ganda mo sana uerm, but the admin's ruining this school from the inside out.

Friends, we have done well so far. There is action from the Board. We await with bated breath and trust in the judgment of at least Dr. Retta Reyes and Dr. de la Paz-Bernardo. Yet, we must not stop. We cannot lose momentum. This might be nothing but a ploy to bide time until another controversy buries our concerns from public consciousness. We cannot let that happen.
At this juncture, we must sustain the conversations. The current students, the faculty, and the alumni are already aware. We must aim to reach, what I propose, are the stakeholders whose actions can decide the outcome of this struggle: aspiring students and their parents. If the institution only listens to its profit, then we must make them listen. A decline in applications, and thus ₱₱₱, will not go unnoticed.
Let us spread this conversation to the spaces the aspiring students and their parents frequent. For students, might include lower batches in our old high schools and universities. For the faculty, this through word-of-mouth (or Viber chain messages) within our social circles.
This is not going to be easy. The goodwill built by the excellent reputation of the old UERM is deeply-rooted, but we can do it. We only need to share a) what issues are happening and b) what little is being done to address it. We must emphasize that these problems will persist lest something be done and little is being done about it. Unless these situations improve, any student who applies to UERM in the future will suffer from the same problems.
One of the best sources of information is the UERM Medical Student Council’s page (https://www.facebook.com/share/1Gg9ccvKGV/?mibextid=wwXIfr). It documents the students’ and faculty’s concerns as well as the response of the administration.
Medical professionals work long careers. We will encounter thousands, if not tens of thousands, of patients. We owe it to our parents, ourselves, and our patients to become the best healthcare workers we can be. It starts here in UERM!

All Med SC, Medtech SC, Nursing SC, and CAReS SC should've been in that meeting. Not just one college.

Rather than ask the students, or survey students’ responses. Are they the one cramped inside a classroom with broken chairs, tables na konti nalang magkakascoliosis kana?

Education cannot flourish where fear exists.

All I can say is that my heart breaks for the student population in UERM. Even anonymously, it takes an incredible amount of courage to speak up. No one chooses that path unless staying silent has become even more painful. Students often feel like they are at the bottom of the hierarchy. They have the least power, yet they are the very reason educational institutions exist. They are the direct recipients of the education and environment that UERM provides. If anyone deserves to be heard first, it is them. This is not about discrediting the many professors who teach with integrity and compassion. Many have shaped generations of excellent physicians. But recognizing that does not mean we should ignore students who say the system has failed them.
What troubles me is how quickly the conversation shifts from listening to protecting. Students are told to file formal complaints through a process they have repeatedly said they do not trust. A complaint system is only as effective as the confidence people have in it. If students fear retaliation or believe nothing will come of speaking up, then the system has already failed before a complaint is even filed. How many stories have never been told because fear was louder than hope? How many students have remained silent because they believed nothing would change? A truly fair institution is not one that simply asks people to trust the system. It is one that builds a system worthy of that trust.
I also believe students stand with the professors in seeking justice and fairness in how this issue is handled by the administration. Supporting due process for faculty and supporting students are not opposing positions. Both deserve fairness. Both deserve protection. But I also hope our professors stand with their students.
To the professors whose names have become part of this conversation: you were students once, too. You knew the names that were whispered from one batch to another—the professors people warned each other about. Ask yourselves: is that the legacy you want to leave? The role of a professor is not only to teach but to lead. If there are students who now enter classrooms with fear instead of excitement, who hesitate to attend lectures because they feel anxious or unsafe, then something precious has been lost. No student should have to associate learning with fear.
Education cannot flourish where fear exists. Trust is the foundation of learning, and once broken, it can only be restored through humility, accountability, and a genuine commitment to making students feel safe again.

Has everyone seen the extent of the discussion on Reddit?
I hope more people take witness of the severity of the issue. It may not only be inappropriate actions with students but also potential abuse against a partner?
There are also two other professors named in the thread. One with a long standing reputation and one with an active relationship with a student.
I hope the departments involved starts an investigation, especially when the parties are known. If true, this type of conduct should not be tolerated and it has no place to be in a teaching institution. Seeing how we have students that are being triggered and do not deserve to be placed in a institution that should conduct a safe learning environment for them at all times.

helpp 😭 i declined UP (since i didn’t get my priority program) and chose UERM instead :((
pls convince me that UERM is still worth it, especially for PT 🥹 i literally have no choice na huhu
i also passed DLSU and UST, but i didn’t pay the reservation fee, so i’m pretty sure i can’t enroll there anymore.
the recent issues surrounding the institution have been bothering me a lot, but at this point, most schools are already closed and i only applied to the Big 4 + UERM.
would really appreciate hearing from current students, alumni, or anyone in PT. how’s the environment, professors, facilities, clinical training, and board exam preparation? thank you 🥹

You think you can force those in the hospital side to keep silent? We keep our responsibilities towards our patients and ensure they receive the care that they deserve despite the ongoing chaos. But good luck to the institution if they decide to sanction and silence the doctors who wants to fight for UERM.
If the doctors choose to leave and practice elsewhere, you are left with nothing but buildings and an institution that begs doctors to apply (as if it's not already happening).

Hi! YL1 student here. I know this is kinda different from the current concerns being brought up to the FW lately, but I just wanna ask: is nobody else bothered by the thin-ass tissues in our bathrooms?
