Adding, manong, manang, uston ti pinagulimek, let us stop being silent, let us stop being quiet.
If our own Supreme Student Council cannot—or will not—fight for the our welfare, then we must start fighting for what we deserve.
For days, we have watched this developing story of the "unified shirt" unfold and escalate. The situation has been riddled with shifting narratives and questionable decisions. Yesterday, a supplier brought the truth to light, exposing the questionable dealings of our very own SSC (https://www.facebook.com/LedsClothing2011/posts/pfbid0bD2RMMpyJuyiJCqv8PFzbfg8d3o1SfWnvstdTV2tQZvDstf7RQStHBEvd2VnFjbkl).
Let's be clear about the ever-changing story we've been told. Ito na mga nagbago:
1. Natanggal na yung IGP.
2. Hindi na mandatory ito for graduating students.
3. Hindi na rin natin babayaran yung supposed stock sa auxiliary, which they also claimed was part of another IGP.
It would be easy to trust our council if they were transparent, if we had any clue where our money was going. Months ago, a question was raised on their Facebook page about the status of their transparency board. To this day, it remains empty.
This begs the question: If they cannot be trusted with the simple task of being transparent about our funds, how can we—and why should we—entrust them with more money? Hard-earned money ng mga parents natin or mga kaklase natin na nagtatrabaho para makapag-aral.
While some progress has been made, a gaping problem remains: the blatant disregard for the student body in the selection of our own supplier.
We are the end-users. We are the ones who will pay for and wear these shirts. Yet, why were we never given the chance to choose? Why was the decision made behind closed doors, by them and the administration, excluding the very students they claim to serve? The process reeks of suspicion. And what's more suspicious? The price, which has changed multiple times. Notice how they are desperately rushing the implementation. We must ask ourselves: Why the hurry? What is in it for them?
Why was there no official announcement when this was still in the planning stages? Why force this upon us in the middle of the semester? Wouldn't it be more logical to implement this next academic year, ensuring all issues are ironed out and the process is clear?
What we are witnessing is a deliberate attempt by those in power, imbes na for the students, naging for the admin na yata, to control the student body. They are pressuring our advisers and deans to stifle our voices and suppress our dissent. This sets a terrifying precedent. It tells us that they can force their will upon us, no matter how loud our complaints are. Today, we are talking about a base price of ₱435. But what happens next time? What if they decide to charge us over ₱1,000 for something and simply silence our objections again?
We must fight this. This is not the school we deserve. This is not the leadership we should accept.
Fellow students, it is time to wake up. We must speak out, each in our own way. What is happening is fundamentally wrong, and only the willfully ignorant would fail to see what they are doing to us.
