Most of us are such naive young adults with barely any life experiences. We will all go through the realities of life that these four walls never could have prepared us for. "Sana sa iba nalang napunta yung slot mo" to a minimum wage earner, even after 4 years of education, just because they dream of moving abroad is extremely tone-deaf (and even if someone else got their slot to UP all those years back, you are just replacing who ends up in that depressing work environment). Try being denied lucrative jobs because someone more connected was already in their mind before the job opening was even posted. Yes we are being shaped to dismantle oppressive systems. But we will still go through them. And you cannot blame someone who surrenders to such an oppressive system.

You will be talented part of the workforce, but you will only be a small part of the solution, if at all. The country is everyone's responsibility, and we are making collective choices towards the country's future. Isko, you won't be some kind of phenomenal project leader with ideas never heard before; most probably some economic realities exist to make your ideas unfeasible. But that's okay, you learn and you evolve. But you will probably live the end of your days seeing very little progress. That's also okay, great cities and countries do not rise due to only one man's life and career. And if you find that the Philippines you will die with isn't the Philippines you thought you would create, you may decide to just migrate to a better country. And honestly, that's okay as well. You will also be another talented member of their workforce, making your little impact there instead of here. Either way, you will contribute a little thing to this world.
