I'm never sure what "smart casual" is, for example, and formal dinners are a nightmare. Comments like these – "is x socially acceptable? – are therefore just a breeding ground for ableism. I sometimes come into the FML and the gyp in my pyjamas because of my autism. I also dread to think how these comments might be interpreted by POC or international students who might have different customs when it comes to dress. Imagine saying, "is it acceptable to wear cultural dress to a formal?" It's just rude at the end of it to comment on what other people are wearing.
