Sensible people take the chance to cultivate good people skills and get some form of truly relevant experience and demonstrable skills/knowledge in something they enjoy alongside their degree and don't count on waltzing out of Cambridge and straight into a job just on the back of an irrelevant degree which gave them only vaguely transferrable skills.
